Plant details
- Size: ~2–4 ft tall × 1–2 ft wide
- Blooms: Late summer to fall
- Deer Resistant: Yes
Why we love it
- Clusters of soft lavender-blue flowers bloom in fall, bringing color and movement to the garden late in the season
- Upright habit adds height without overwhelming nearby plants
- More delicate in presence than many other asters
Why wildlife loves it
- Supports a wide range of late-season pollinators
- Host plant for several species of butterflies and moths
- Seeds attract small songbirds in fall
Fun to see
- Watch native bees circle the golden center, gathering pollen and packing it onto their hind legs.
What to expect at pickup
Ground covers and ferns are sold as young, well rooted plugs. Shrubs are sold in 1 gallon containers.
Because this is a fall collection, some plants may have limited foliage or may be beginning to enter dormancy at pickup. This is a normal seasonal change. Their roots are healthy and ready to establish after planting.
