Ground Covers and Ferns

Shade Loving · Low Maintenance · Rich in Texture

Fall is an excellent time to plant ground covers and ferns. Cooler air and warm soil give roots time to establish before winter. Plant spring bloomers such as Foamflower and Golden Ragwort now, and they will return with flowers in April.

Ground covers spread across open soil, helping to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect the soil from erosion and heavy rain. Ferns add height and texture. Plant them beneath shrubs, along shaded borders, or between larger perennials.

Sold as plugs: small, vigorous plants that are easy to plant and quick to establish.
