Why we love it
- Spikes of blue-violet flowers open gradually from the bottom up, extending the bloom period and bringing fresh color when many plants begin to slow down
- Spreads gradually by underground runners and self-seeding, slowly filling in around itself to form a natural-looking colony
Why wildlife loves it
- Provides nectar for bees and other pollinators
- Host plant for several species of moths, including the Skullcap Skeletonizer
Fun to see
- Leaves that look like intricate lace are a welcome sign—proof that the Skullcap Skeletonizer has found your garden
