Why we love it
- Sweetly fragrant flowers fill the garden with scent in midsummer
- A beautiful foundation or border shrub with a naturally rounded form
- Dark green foliage provides a lush backdrop through the growing season before turning bright yellow in fall
- Gradually forms a dense hedge through suckering, making it excellent for privacy, naturalized plantings, and erosion control
Why wildlife loves it
- Flowers attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and many other pollinators
- Host plant for several moth species
- Seeds provide food for birds later in the season
Fun to see
The dry seed capsules left behind after bloom look like peppercorns, hence its common name.
What to expect at pickup
Ground covers and ferns are sold as young, well rooted plugs. Shrubs are sold in 1 gallon containers.
Because this is a fall collection, some plants may have limited foliage or may be beginning to enter dormancy at pickup. This is a normal seasonal change. Their roots are healthy and ready to establish after planting.
