Growing conditions

Sun: Full sun to part shade
Soil: Average to moist, well drained soil
Care: Water regularly during the first growing season to help roots establish and plants settle in

Why we love this garden

• Inkberry Holly provides evergreen structure and screening, an alternative to boxwood
• Virginia Sweetspire adds fragrant early summer flowers and brilliant red fall color
• New Jersey Tea is a low, tidy shrub that fills out the front of the border
• Broadleaf Meadowsweet extends the bloom season with clusters of white flowers from July into September

Why wildlife loves this garden

• New Jersey Tea and Broadleaf Meadowsweet are host plants for the Spring Azure butterfly
• Flowers across the planting provide nectar and pollen for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects from May thru September
• Pollinated female Inkberry Hollies produce black berries that provide food for birds
• Foliage and dense branching offer cover for birds and other small wildlife

What to expect at pickup

Ground covers and ferns are sold as young, well rooted plugs. Shrubs are sold in 1 gallon containers.

Because this is a fall collection, some plants may have limited foliage or may be beginning to enter dormancy at pickup. This is a normal seasonal change. Their roots are healthy and ready to establish after planting.
