Why we love it

  • A shade-loving native succulent—and the most widespread native Sedum in eastern North America

  • Evergreen foliage brings color and texture to the winter garden

  • Creeping stems form a dense groundcover for rock gardens, shaded slopes, and beneath trees and shrubs

Why wildlife loves it

  • Spring flowers provide nectar and pollen for bees and other small beneficial insects

  • Serves as a larval host plant for the Variegated Fritillary butterfly

Fun to see

The name ternatum means “in threes,” referring to the leaves arranged in whorls of three.

What to expect at pickup

Ground covers and ferns are sold as young, well rooted plugs. Shrubs are sold in 1 gallon containers.

Because this is a fall collection, some plants may have limited foliage or may be beginning to enter dormancy at pickup. This is a normal seasonal change. Their roots are healthy and ready to establish after planting.
