Why we love it
- Low-growing perennial that brings light and movement to shaded spaces
- Dainty white flowers with yellow centers bloom from late summer into fall
- Especially good for challenging shady areas where color can be hard to achieve
Why wildlife loves it
- Important late-season nectar source for butterflies and bees
- Host plant for the pearl crescent butterfly and many species of moths
- Birds eat the seeds and use fluff for nesting material
Fun to see
- Flower centers change from yellow to red as they’re pollinated
